DTF Printing & Application
Q: What is DTF printing, and what makes it a good choice?

Q: Which fabrics are compatible with DTF printing?

Q: What pressure is required for a heat transfer application?
A: Please see our complete application instructions.

Miscellaneous
Q: Is my personal information secure when shopping on your site?
A: See our Privacy Policy.
Q: How does DTF compare to DTG printing?
A: DTG prints directly onto fabric, often requiring pretreatment and limited to specific garment types. DTF prints onto film, allowing for more versatile material use and placement. DTF is easier to learn and more flexible.
Q: Why should I choose DTF?
A: DTF is ideal for small runs and multi-color designs. Many screen printers use DTF for complex jobs to free up their screen printing equipment.
Q: What are the advantages of DTF over other methods like heat transfer vinyl or sublimation?
A: DTF doesn't require cutting or weeding like vinyl and works on a wider range of fabrics than sublimation, including cotton and dark garments.
Q: How durable are DTF transfers?
A: When applied properly, DTF transfers offer great wash durability. Follow care instructions: wash inside-out with cold water and tumble dry low or air dry.
Q: How do I apply a DTF transfer?
A: You’ll need a heat press, parchment or Teflon sheet, and possibly a lint roller. Align the transfer, apply heat and pressure, then peel. Finish with a second press. See full application guide.
Q: How should I wash a garment with a transfer?
A: Wash inside-out in cold water. Tumble dry low or air dry. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners.
Q: How long do transfers last in storage?
A: Up to 6–12 months when stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
Q: What should I do if my transfer starts to peel?
A: Reheat the area with a heat press (or iron with parchment paper), and press again with medium pressure for a few more seconds.
Q: What design techniques should I avoid to maximize quality?
A: Avoid grayscale gradients, transparency, neon effects, glow effects, and designs with unnecessary background elements. Use high-res files at desired size, not mirrored.
Q: How can I check the status of my order?
A: Chat with us on dtf.shirtspace.com, call 877-285-7606, or email dtf@shirtspace.com.
